Vintage Couture Just Crossed Into Seven-Figure Auction Territory

A McQueen ensemble once worn by Naomi Campbell brought $1.3 million at a sale held by Fair Warning, an auction startup dealing in couture. The same sale carried major lots by Yves Saint Laurent and Azzedine Alaïa, placing three storied houses on one block. The results put worn, working couture in the same price range long reserved for fine art and rare jewelry at auction.
