Headlights That See Farther and Dazzle Less Are Coming to American Roads

· 1 min read

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration intends to bring its lighting regulations up to date, with two aims in mind: lamps that throw less light into the eyes of oncoming drivers, and lamps that simply do their job better. The agency plans to get there by lining American requirements up with the international ones. For anyone who covers real miles after dark, whether a late run up the coast road or the drive home from a Saturday morning cars-and-coffee, that is plain good news for the view through the windshield and for the drivers on the other side of it.
