At Road Atlanta, Porsche Penske Breaks Through in GTP

Porsche Penske has a first to its name at Petit Le Mans. The team won the GTP category at Road Atlanta, the first time it has done so there, and it had BMW close behind to the end. For people who care about which marque wins, and at which American circuit, this one belongs on the record. GTP is the premier class in IMSA, so this was not a win in a supporting class. It came at the highest level the series offers. The weekend's larger honors went to Cadillac, so two marques had good reasons to celebrate. Porsche's moment was the one that had never happened at this event before.
