A Tesla Owner's New Way Out: The Car Can Now Pull Free of Its Charger When It Matters

· 1 min read

Tesla has added a safety provision that lets its electric cars be put into gear and released from the charging cable when an emergency calls for it. The cable no longer holds the car in place at the stall. For an owner topping up at a Supercharger, on a Florida highway or anywhere else in the country, the plug is no longer the deciding factor in whether the car can move. It is a quiet piece of engineering, and owners will be glad to have it the one time it counts.
