Belmont Park Marks a Trainer's 2,000th Trip to the Winner's Circle

Rick Dutrow, Jr. saddled his 2,000th career winner in North America at Belmont Park, where Long Pour, a son of Tom's d'Etat, took Race 7 against a tough nine-horse field of New York-breds. The mile-and-a-sixteenth optional claimer put a number on paper that few conditioners ever reach, one earned the old-fashioned way, race by race, over years on the New York circuit. For a trainer whose barn has long been a fixture at Belmont, the milestone came on the same track where so much of that record was built.
