Chasing 9¼: Del Mar Debut Winner Earns TDN Rising Star Nod
Debbie Lanni's Quattro Passi needed only her second career start to make her mark, drawing off to a 9 1/4-length maiden win at Del Mar on Sunday. The 2-year-old filly, a daughter of Girvin out of the Blame mare Whatashame, covered the margin with the kind of authority that gets a filly noticed beyond the winner's circle. Trainers and clockers watching the race saw enough in the move to have Thoroughbred Daily News name her a Rising Star before the day was out.
