Glycogen Wins the P.G. Johnson at Saratoga
Friday's running of the P.G. Johnson Stakes at Saratoga went to Glycogen, a filly by Jack Christopher out of My Sugar Bear, herself by Giant's Causeway. The result did double duty: a stakes win for the filly, and the first stakes winner for Jack Christopher as a sire, with his debut crop still finding its footing on the track. The Johnson is run each summer at the Spa meet, and a stakes tally there carries weight for any horse, let alone one representing a stallion's first foals. For Jack Christopher's book, it is the kind of early result breeders take note of.
