A Half Length at Keeneland Starts the Record for Psalm Beauty
Psalm Beauty, a two-year-old filly by Jackie's Warrior, broke her maiden at Keeneland on Tuesday, October 14, in the fifth race on the card. The event was a $110,000 maiden special weight for juvenile fillies, run over six and a half furlongs on a fast main track. She covered the distance in 1:17.88 and reached the wire with half a length in hand. The win is her first. Her pedigree is the kind the Lexington sales ring pays attention to. Her dam, Platinum Paynter, is a daughter of Paynter who placed in multiple graded stakes and retired with earnings of $210,058. A first winner out of a mare of that quality, by a sire of Jackie's Warrior's standing, is exactly the sort of October afternoon at Keeneland that gets noted in the catalog pages for years to come.
