A Homebred Mare Makes the Long Trip Pay Off in the Bluegrass
Elite Racing's homebred mare Tiffany (Ire), a 6-year-old by Farhh out of Affinity, a mare from the Sadler's Wells line, crossed the Atlantic to take on the $2-million Kentucky Turf Cup. She races for trainer Sir Mark Prescott, for whom she has never run better. On Kentucky turf, she met Ethical Diamond, a Breeders' Cup winner, and got the better of him. A European-bred homebred beating a Breeders' Cup champion on his own continent is not a result that happens often, and it is the kind of afternoon that makes the trip across an ocean worth the trouble.
