The American SetIllinois' Last Track Gets a Bigger Season
Fairmount Park, the only Thoroughbred racetrack still running in Illinois, will race a fuller calendar in 2027. The Illinois Racing Commission has signed off on the expansion, and the track is pairing it with physical upgrades and new promotional efforts. For the backstretch and the grandstand alike, it means more dates on the calendar in a state down to one track carrying the sport.
