Monday's opening session of the Keeneland September Sale brought a colt by Gun Runner into the ring, consigned by Glennwood Farm and carrying a notable family tie: he is a half-brother to Justify, the Scat Daddy colt who swept the 2018 Triple Crown. The connection was enough to draw Winchell back to the buying end, and by the time the session closed, the colt had gone to Winchell's name. It was one signature among many on a day the sale's own numbers marked as a strong start to the week.
