The Prioress Seals It: Manny Franco Tops Saratoga's Jockey Standings

Sunday's fourth race at Saratoga Springs was the Prioress, a Grade III test worth $225,000 run over six furlongs, and it was Manny Franco in the saddle at the finish. The 31-year-old rider, a native of Puerto Rico, made no secret of what the win meant, breaking into an open celebration as he crossed the wire. The result closed out the meet with Franco holding the leading rider's title at Saratoga for the first time in his career. At a track where a summer's worth of racing is distilled into a single standings sheet, topping it is its own kind of milestone.
