The American SetSaratoga Maiden Winner Points for Belmont's Champagne
Gaudreau, a son of Nyquist, broke his maiden in a 2-year-old special weight at Saratoga on Aug. 8, and that effort has him bound for Belmont Park this fall. The colt is slated to contest the Grade I Champagne Stakes on Oct. 3, one of the marquee tests for juveniles on the New York circuit. It's the kind of step up — from a summer maiden win in the Spa to a graded stakes at Belmont — that connections point toward when they like what they've seen.
