Horror's 2026 Run Adds Another Strong Start as "Other Mommy" Takes $12.6 Million in Its First Day
"Other Mommy" earned $12.6 million in ticket sales on the day it reached theaters, according to Variety. Its arrival adds another title to a year in which horror has been one of the strongest performers in cinemas. Before it came "Obsession," "Backrooms" and "Resident Evil," each of which Variety counted among the year's major debuts. With Halloween a few weeks away, the timing puts the genre in front of audiences during the season most closely tied to it. "The Social Reckoning" also opened in theaters and took in $2.15 million on Friday, its first day, according to the same report.
