Matthew Rhys Collects Two Emmys, and Keri Russell Had Already Waved Off Any Thank-You
Matthew Rhys walked away from this year's Emmys with a pair of trophies. One recognized his performance as the lead of the comedy "Widow's Bay." The other honored his lead work in the limited series "Beast in Me." Winning in two separate categories on a single night put him at the podium more than once. Viewers following along online noticed that none of those trips to the stage included a word of gratitude toward Keri Russell, and many asked why. The answer, as it turns out, came from Russell herself. Before the ceremony, she told Rhys that if his name was called, he was under no obligation to thank her. He took her at her word.
