A $50 Million Monet Collection Heads to Auction, and Florida Will Be on the Phone
This October, Christie's will put up for sale a collection valued at $50 million, assembled by a French art dealer and built around works by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Eugène Boudin. It is the kind of sale that draws bidders far from wherever the gavel actually falls, and Palm Beach and Naples living rooms are exactly the kind of rooms these paintings tend to end up in. Whoever wins the Monet won't be hanging it in an auction house.
