The American SetA Bench in Centennial Park Now Belongs to Dolly
Centennial Park has dedicated a historic bench in memory of Dolly Parton, giving the singer a permanent seat in one of Nashville's most visited public spaces. It is a modest tribute for an outsized life in country music, and a fitting one — a place to sit, not a statue to look up at, in a park where locals and visitors alike pass through every day. The dedication sits Parton's memory alongside the park's Parthenon and its walking paths, part of the everyday landscape of the city she called home. Centennial Park is on the west side of town, not far from Music Row, where her work was made.
