Green Hills Marks Its New Year on Brandy Clark's Calendar, Not the One on the Wall

Nashville runs on its own clock, and Brandy Clark just set hers: her new album, "The Bird," arrives in January, timed to open the year rather than close one out. It is the kind of release date that only makes sense in a town where the songwriting calendar and the regular one rarely line up. For the artists who write the songs Nashville is actually known for, January is not a comedown from December — it is the start of the real work.
