The Lights Stay On: TVA Readies a 2.5-Gigawatt Expansion
The utility that keeps Nashville's studios humming and its hillside kitchens lit is preparing to grow. The Tennessee Valley Authority intends to bring an additional 2.5 gigawatts of generating capacity onto its system. The price of that work comes to $581 million. Of that sum, $250 million arrives in the form of a federal grant, leaving the authority to carry the remainder. For a region whose growth is measured in new rooftops from Green Hills to the far edge of Williamson County, a build-out of this scale is the sort of quiet infrastructure that makes every louder ambition possible. It is not glamorous work, but it is the kind that well-run places tend to get right.
