FAA Wants to Co-Own the AI Firm Behind Its Next Traffic Tools
The agency that owns the airspace every operator in this country files into is now looking to own part of a company building artificial intelligence for managing it. The FAA is in talks with Air Space Intelligence, one of its air traffic AI contractors, over taking an ownership position in the firm rather than simply paying it as a vendor. For owners flying Part 91 and 91K, that puts the regulator on the same side of the table as the developer whose software may someday sequence their arrivals. Terms, timing, and the size of any stake have not been disclosed.
