FAA Weighs Taking Equity in the Company Doing Its ATC Work
The FAA is reportedly looking at buying a piece of ASI, a contractor on its air traffic control program. A regulator holding a share of a vendor it hires would be a first for the agency. The idea is tied to the larger push to bring the national airspace system's equipment and procedures up to date. Anyone who files IFR out of Teterboro, Van Nuys or Palm Beach will be flying through whatever comes of it.
