NBAA, AOPA Push FAA to Apply Airline Crew Rest Rules to Part 91, 125, and 135 Flight Departments
NBAA, AOPA, and a coalition of other industry groups have asked the FAA to extend the rest and duty-time standards it has proposed for Part 121 airline crews to operators certificated under Part 91, 125, and 135. As drafted, the FAA's proposal reaches only scheduled airline crews, leaving business aviation flight departments and charter operators outside its scope. The groups are asking the agency to apply one uniform standard across certificate types rather than maintain separate rules for each. For owners running flight departments under Part 91K or chartering under Part 135, the request would mean crew duty time governed by the same framework as the airlines, rather than rules that differ by how the aircraft is certificated.
