Preflight Weather Now Runs Through a Funnel, Not a Firehose
The volume of aviation weather data available before a flight has outpaced the time crews have to sort it. A funnel approach to the preflight briefing is being proposed as the fix: start wide with the broad weather picture, then narrow step by step to the specifics that bear on the route and the airplane at hand. The method is aimed at owners and crews who otherwise wade through raw feeds looking for the handful of data points that actually matter. For operators running their own preflight process rather than outsourcing it to a dispatcher, it's a structural change to how the briefing gets built, not just what's in it.
