A Chicago Trustee Family's $5 Million Tribute Puts Madeleine's Name on a Fund for Women in Art
The Bluhm family has pledged $5 million to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. The money creates a fund for gender parity, and it will carry the name of the director, Madeleine, who is leaving the museum. Trustee Leslie Bluhm spoke about her in warm terms, calling her a teacher and mentor to the whole board and the finest leader they have worked with. The gift is about money, but it is also a thank-you. Naming a permanent fund after someone keeps her name inside the museum, on the work it pays for, long after she has gone.
