The 2027 3-Series Wears an Electric Face, but Its M350 Keeps a Combustion Heart
BMW's next 3-Series belongs to the G50 generation and arrives for model year 2027 looking very much like the electric i3 it is related to. You can see the family resemblance at first glance. It stops at the bodywork, though, because the two cars are built differently underneath. For readers who keep a sport sedan for the sound and feel of a gasoline engine, the model to watch is the M350. It is a hybrid, and its B58 engine makes more than 400 horsepower on combustion alone, before the electric side is counted. So the new generation takes its look from BMW's electric car while the M350 still runs on a gasoline engine.
