The 2028 Volvo XC60 T8 Could Handle Your Whole Commute Without the Engine Ever Waking Up

· 1 min read

Volvo's plug-in hybrid XC60 T8 gets a larger 37.9-kWh battery pack for the 2028 model year, extending its electric-only range to as much as 78 miles. For an owner whose daily round trip falls inside that radius, the gasoline engine may simply stay off, called on only for longer hauls. The upgrade keeps the XC60 in plug-in hybrid form while narrowing the gap to what a dedicated EV can offer around town.
