Parallel parking, the maneuver most drivers try hardest to avoid, is turning into a competitive sport in cities across the country. Organizers in Portland, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh have staged competitions built around the tightest curbside squeeze, testing precision and car control rather than raw speed. The aim, organizers say, is to show that the hardest way to park a car can also be the most enjoyable.
