Corvette's Chief Engineer Says the C8 Has More Miles in It
Tony Roma, who leads Corvette and General Motors performance work, sat down with The Drive to talk about where America's sports car goes from here. His first point will please anyone who has a mid-engine C8 in the garage: the current generation is not close to finished, in his view, and there is more to come from it before any successor arrives. He also fielded the question every Chevrolet owner eventually asks, which is what it would take for the Camaro name to return. And he spoke about the rear-wheel-drive architecture beneath Cadillac's Blackwing sedans, the cars that have given GM's performance group its most admired recent chapter. For collectors weighing a C8 now against waiting for the next number, the message from the man in charge is that the present car still has a future.
