The Dual-Clutch Question Comes to the Trail
The Drive put two very different side-by-side utility vehicles head to head to settle a question serious off-roaders have been asking: does a dual-clutch transmission actually earn its keep over the CVT that has run UTVs for decades. One rig came fitted with the fancier dual-clutch setup, the other with the continuously variable transmission that remains the segment's default, and the outlet ran them side by side to see whether the added complexity translates to a real advantage on the trail. It is the kind of head-to-head that matters more to UTV owners than horsepower figures ever will, since transmission choice shapes how a machine actually behaves crawling over rock and hauling through mud.
