Mitsubishi's flagship sport-utility, built on a full body-on-frame chassis and positioned as the brand's global flagship, has no confirmed date for American showrooms. Collectors who remember the nameplate from decades past will recognize why: should it cross the Atlantic, or the Pacific, it would arrive here wearing the Montero badge, not Pajero, continuing the naming split Mitsubishi has long used for the U.S. market. For now that is a conditional, not a commitment — the SUV exists, the American name for it exists, but the two have not yet been paired on a single build sheet bound for the States.
