The American SetNo More Dipstick: 2027 Silverado and Sierra V8s Check Their Own Oil
Chevrolet and GMC are retiring a fixture of the engine bay. The 2027 Silverado and Sierra, when ordered with the new 5.7-liter or 6.6-liter V8, will not have a physical oil dipstick at all. In its place, owners read oil level off a digital gauge on the dash. It is a small change under the hood, but for anyone who has ever pulled a dipstick and wiped it clean on a rag, a real shift in how these trucks are built.
