Provenance Pays: Jordan's 550 Maranello Clears Its High Estimate More Than Twice Over

A Ferrari 550 Maranello once owned by Michael Jordan has changed hands for $2.7 million, a record result. Going in, the top of its estimate stood at $1.3 million, so the final figure more than doubled the most optimistic number on the sheet. For collectors, a gap that wide shows how much a name in the ownership history can add to a car. Here, the name carried the room.
