Put 2028 on the Calendar: Tesla's Second Roadster Finally Has a Year
Tesla has attached a date to the Roadster it has been promising for years, and that date is 2028. The prototype it has shown is built around a claim that ought to stop any collector mid-sentence: a sprint from rest to 60 mph in 0.81 seconds, a figure that until now belonged to the physics of launch pads rather than driveways. Getting there involves bodywork that moves with speed and a set of small thrusters meant to govern the car's orientation, hardware that lets the company talk about the prototype holding itself against a surface and even leaving the ground briefly. Those are Tesla's figures and Tesla's claims about a car we have not sat in, so we report them as such and will hold our own judgment until there is a production example to drive. What matters today for anyone with a deposit on file, or a space reserved in a Naples or Beverly Hills garage, is that the open-ended wait now has an end in sight.
