Rolls-Royce Trades Wood Veneer for the Ocean Floor on Its Newest Phantom

Rolls-Royce has completed a Phantom bearing a hummingbird worked entirely in marquetry cut from abalone shell, the first time the marque has used the material for interior artwork. Abalone carries a natural shimmer that shifts between blue and green as light crosses it, a quality no dyed wood veneer can reproduce. The result is a single commissioned piece, built by hand to sit inside one of the most bespoke cars Rolls-Royce makes.
