464 Yearlings Come to the Ring in Ocala
The Ocala Breeders' Sales Company opens its October Yearling Sale on Tuesday, and over two sessions 464 young horses will come before the auctioneer in the heart of Florida's horse country. The count covers the full 2026 book, with the late additions included. That is a big catalogue, and a full one, with every hip number a yearling that a breeder raised, prepared and brought to the ring this fall. For buyers, it means two days of walking the barns, studying pedigrees and watching each yearling step out on the walk before the bidding starts. For the farms that consigned them, it is the moment a year of careful work in the paddock and the barn goes in front of the market. In Ocala, sale week is one of the busiest weeks on the calendar. We will be watching from the rail as the sale opens Tuesday.
