Before the Gates Open, the Breeders' Cup Asks Its Crowd to Give
The "Champions Give Back" drive is back for another run in the weeks before the Breeders' Cup. For a full month, anyone with a stake in the championships can find a way to help Breeders' Cup Charities, whether they come to it from the grandstand, the shed row or a sponsor's table. It is a quieter part of the lead-up than works on the track and entries at the draw, and it is aimed at the whole community rather than only the people who own the horses. We cover it because generosity in racing belongs in the record just as much as the results do.
