A Daughter of Upstart, From Maxfield's Female Family, Goes a Mile First Time Out at Horseshoe Indianapolis
A two-year-old filly by Upstart is set to make her first start on Sept. 28 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. She comes from the same female family as Maxfield. She goes in the second race on the card, a maiden special weight for juvenile fillies worth $43,000. The race is at one mile, and post time is 2:41 p.m. Eastern. That's a full mile for a first-time starter, with a known sire on top of her pedigree and a well-regarded female family underneath it. She has company among the day's first-time starters, since a grandson of Havre de Grace is also on the Horseshoe card to make his debut. The Indiana track sometimes gets first-time starters from major racing operations, and this second race is one of the days worth watching for that. For anyone who follows pedigrees from the sales ring to the starting gate, it's a chance to see these two families race for the first time.
