A Flying Start Trainee Wants Racing to Be Easier for Americans to Watch
Carly Schuerger, a member of the 24th Godolphin Flying Start class, which runs from 2026 to 2028, has taken her turn in the program's series of trainee columns with a simple ask: make it easier for Americans who love the sport to actually see it. Her column, written as what she would change if she ran American racing for a single day, starts from the fan who wants to watch the horses run. It is a young horsewoman writing for the people who fill the rail and the grandstand, not for the people in the industry's boardrooms. Coming from someone early in her career, it reads as a plan for bringing more people to the track.
