The American SetA French Filly, a French Hand: Shelzawa Takes the Winter Memories
Shelzawa (Fr) won the Winter Memories, and her rider came from the same country she did. The 3-year-old filly is by Zelzal (Fr) out of the Shendama (Fr) mare, and her broodmare sire is Dr Fong. Flavien, a Frenchman himself, kept her covered up and asked for her late, and she pulled away just enough when he did. Among those she beat was Sister Troienne, the Munnings filly returning to the races.
