The Girvin Filly Who Ran Down Seneca Park in the Jessamine
Serenas Ghost, a daughter of Girvin, took the 'WAYI' Jessamine in an upset, collaring Seneca Park after that filly had set the pace from the front. The deciding work came in the final furlongs. Serenas Ghost did not take a straight line home; she shifted and weaved through the stretch before getting past the leader. Track announcer Kurt Becker's call made clear the run home was anything but routine. Seneca Park had gone to the post as the second choice and had control of the race until the late run reached her. For Girvin, it is a stakes win by one of his daughters, and it came from a filly who had to do it the hard way.
