Kathynmarissa Adds Flower Bowl to Her Diana and Earns a Breeders' Cup Berth
Kathynmarissa has now won both of her starts since mid-July, and the second win sends her to the Breeders' Cup. The 5-year-old mare by American Pharoah, owned by Michael Dubb and Michael J. Caruso, took the Flower Bowl, a "Win and You're In" race that guarantees its winner a place in the championship. Her previous start was a victory in the Grade I Dunkin' Diana Stakes at Saratoga on July 18. The Flower Bowl was her next race, so she did not run between the two wins. Plenty of horses win a Grade I at the Spa, but far fewer follow it with a win that carries a ticket to the Breeders' Cup. That pairing is what puts her name on the list for the fall. American Pharoah's daughter now goes from a summer stakes winner to a horse whose next start has already been decided.
