Kentucky's 2027 Racing Calendar Calls for a Careful Hand
Kentucky's Thoroughbred racing moves between five tracks, and for several seasons that circuit has followed much the same schedule from year to year. The 2027 calendar will test that routine. Labor Day falls later next year, and the change in dates could push some of the state's race meets up against one another. On a circuit used to a settled rotation, the work now is fitting five tracks' seasons around a holiday that arrives later than usual. Arranging the dates is a quiet part of the sport, but in Kentucky it is where every season on the track starts.
