Rhetorical Wins the Coolmore Turf Mile for a Second Time
Rhetorical has won the Grade I Coolmore Turf Mile again, so his name now appears twice on the race's honor roll. The bay is a five-year-old gelding by Not This Time out of the mare Sheet Humor, and he races for a partnership of Gary Barber, Cheyenne Stable and Wachtel Stable. Winning a Grade I race once is the best result a turf horse can earn. Coming back the next year and winning the same race again is rarer, because the horse has to hold that form for a full year. Only a short list of horses has won the Turf Mile more than once, and Rhetorical's name now sits among them. The owners came into this running hoping to join that list, and they did it. For readers who follow the grass division, this is the result to note: a proven miler, still at the top level at five, who has now defended his title.
