The American SetTwo Seven-Figure-Class Youngsters Make Their First Starts, at Belmont and Santa Anita
Two juveniles that cost serious money at auction start their careers on Sunday, one on each coast. In New York, the fourth race at Belmont is a maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies, worth $100,000, at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf, with post time at 2:11 p.m. Eastern. Tasha's Pride (GB), a daughter of Frankel, is in the field. She was bought as a yearling at the Tattersalls October sale for 600,000 guineas, about $845,742, with agent David Ingordo signing the ticket. Out west, Mo Chuisle runs for the first time at Santa Anita. Mo Chuisle sold for $825,000 at the OBS April sale of 2-year-olds in training. Sunday is the first time either of these sale-ring prices gets measured on the racetrack.
