Wells Bayou Gets His First Winner on the Board, and It's Mystik Dan's Brother
Mystik Bayou has given his sire, Wells Bayou, the first win of his stud career. That matters to a young stallion and to anyone breeding to him, because the opening win shows his foals can get it done on the track. The colt also has a famous family name: he shares a dam with Mystik Dan, the Derby winner, so he comes to the winner's circle with a known pedigree behind him. Before this win he ran in a maiden at Saratoga, a race that later stood out because the winner was U.S.S. Valor, a son of War of Will who went on to be named a 'TDN Rising Star.' Mystik Bayou finished third there, close behind the horses ahead of him. That race was a strong one to come out of, and he has now built on it by winning. For a stallion still early in his career, the first win from a well-connected colt is a good start.
