From DeMille to Jolie to Madonna: One Los Feliz Address, Three Marquee Names

Madonna has bought Angelina Jolie's Los Angeles estate in Los Feliz for a little under $25 million. The property covers two acres, and its earlier owners include Cecil B. DeMille, one of the founding names of American film. That puts a director from Hollywood's first chapter, one of the defining actresses of a later one and a singer who has been at the top of pop for decades on the same deed history. Down here we tend to measure a house by how close it is to the water or the club. In Los Angeles the comparable question seems to be whose name was on the deed before yours, and this address does well on that count. Two acres is a lot of ground anywhere, whether that's Palm Beach, Naples or Miami, and it's even more notable when it sits inside a major city. People in Florida know that a good house picks up its stories one owner at a time, and this one has just added another.
