The Mane of Needles starts from the Negroni, swaps in rye whiskey and finishes with a sharper, spikier bite than the classic. It isn't the even-measures pour most of us could make half-asleep, so it takes more patience at the bar cart than the usual stir. Robb Report's verdict is that the extra steps pay off. Whether it ends up on a Palm Beach sideboard, a Miami rooftop or a Naples lanai at sundown, it suits the host who likes being asked what's in the glass.

With reporting from Robb Report.
